Unable to select packages

When I try to select CD as my source, it shows sr0 as an available CD drive, but when i try to mount it says "Failed to mount /dev/sr0". I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this.

Re: Unable to select packages

OK, let's slow down a bit.  Can you manually mount a known good CD?  check if you can manually mount it on your CD-ROM:

  (as root) # mount /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom

Maybe your CDROM times out because your CD is a coaster: ask a friend to mount it on its own computer, or check the md5 sum if you know it, when you downloaded and burned it.

If you cannot mount ANY CD this way, try playing with the device name: instead of sr0, try hda/hdb/hdc/hdd corresponding to where you actually have the CD drive (first IDE connector as master = hda / slave = hdb ; second IDE connector: master = hdc, slave = hdd ...)

If you can mount it somewhere, then maybe you can use it from there, specifying that particular path.
