Re: how build new kernel

OK. Lets start with why you want to build your own kernel?  What are you hoping to achieve?  No offence intended, but your current linux knowledge appears a bit low to be tackling this.

Anyway, there are pages on the wiki about this.  The easiest way is to use ABS to get the Arch build files, which you can then modify and build with makepkg.  I haven't gone through them, but these will probably all help you:

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_Compilation
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ker … n_with_ABS
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cus … n_with_ABS

and many others...

Fair enough.  It was just a warning that you are just throwing yourself in at the deep end a bit by starting out building your own kernel.  You may want to look at this package: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15004

If you want to improve you're knowledge, i'd recommend compiling the kernel from source (search that phrase in google aswell for more explanations). Then once you know what's going on, you can automate the process with ABS.
