Eclipse help error: Web browser - none configured

Hi, everyone,

I got two Arch boxes; everything vanilla except for the Firefox browser which is kept 2.0.0.12 on both. On one of the boxes Eclipse help shows in the Konqueror, on the other Eclipse says: "Help error: could not open a web browser because there are non configured. Check the Web Browser preferences". I've got no idea what it is that's slipped through the cracks. Any suggestions?

In Eclipse, go in the Preferences window (Menu Window -> Prefereces).  Browse to General, then Web Browser.  Set up you browser there.  You will probably want to click on "use external web browser", then give the path to your firefox.  The search button should find your firefox installation, too.

Re: Eclipse help error: Web browser - none configured

It's funny... The working Eclipse uses "internal web browser"; no further reference. The stubborn one has the "internal web browser" option grayed out. /usr/bin/firefox also grayed out in the Open window, but while "searching" it found a lot of Internet Explorers smile , probably in ~/.wine ... It's a problem.

...

With "external web browser", "New.." instead of "Search...", works. It's OK, but why the "internal" option is grayed out?
