Dell Inspiron 1520 - disk problem

Hi. I have Dell Inspiron 1520 and even if I set hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda or 255, disk still makes clicking noises. Hdparm command fixed that in ubuntu, here it doesn't. Is there any other way to stop clicking? Ty.

Re: Dell Inspiron 1520 - disk problem

Disabling disk power mangement in the BIOS worked for me. If that doesn't to the trick, is the hdparm command getting run at every boot (appending it to /etc/rc.local is an easy way)?
cheers,

Setting it to 255 should disable power management all together, out of curiosity have you tried a lower value, like 128?  Try the -M option (acoustic management) and set it to 254.  If that doesn't work, then you probably need to change something in the bios.
