hello, i want to start mplayer with a gui but don't start an extra terminal.
i tried it in kde with "oopen with" and use the command 'mplayer %u' but this starts also the gui. where is the difference between using "mplayer $file" in the terminal and "mplayer $file" in kde?
thank,
papierschiff

'gmplayer' is the command to start the gui for mplayer. So if you put that in the menu then that won't open a terminal. I might be misunderstanding what you want though.

hej,
i don't wont a gui, that is the problem. so using gmplayer won't help.
an at the moment i must start in dolphin a terminal, and must type 'mplayer *' -an this is what i don't wont. i wont klick on the file, and the mplayer starts without a gui. on my old debian with xfce this was no problem.

Try mplayer -nogui <other options and filename>, make sure that "nogui" is the first option.
