I'm using pcmanfm with ivman for automount, and when I try to unmount a drive from pcmanfm I get this in a popup window:
Error org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.UnknownFailure
Using the eject button for CDs works fine, but for USB sticks I have to use umount as root, otherwise they just refuse to unmount.

are sure you don't have hal installed? The error refrences Hal. Hal does the same thing as ivman but might not like things being unmounted by another program. (for security or something like that)
If it is installed then try removing it. Also if it is then why didn't pacman say that it conflicts with ivman. (unless it doesn't conflict but I would asssume that they would because they both automount stuff)

Umm, ivman uses hal, so yes, I have hal installed.

BTW - is it just me or is ivman buggy as hell? There's this bit about not having more than one per-user instance running at once, lest a race condition occur - surely that is not the case with gnome-volume-manager or thunar-volman?
