Hello,
My /tmp is 2GB. It seems that FireFox is using it for downloads and now I can't download very much without it becoming full. I can't find the setting to get FireFox to use another directory. Apart from using a download manager what options do I have?
Thanks.

Download location is in preferences under main.

I know that but it's the temporary directory which needs changed.

Firefox uses filename.part to put the file in.
Maybe this behavior was changed by a previous plugin.
Even if it uses /tmp the file will be moved to the specified location. So maybe it's not the issue.

You download 2GB with firefox without deleting a thing? Wow. Have you considered adjusting that habit a bit, or at least deleting things when you are done?

filename.part - yes, but I'm talking about the directory.
I have tried clearing /tmp and that doesn't seem to have worked.

Can you check lsof | grep '/tmp'
Does firefox use anything except sockets?
It seems mplayer-plugin uses files here too, but they delete automatically. But lsof says firefox still has them opened.
(Are you sure it's firefox, can you see who has these big files opened in lsof's output?)

Ah - turns out it was pacman caching files...again. Is there anyway of stopping it from caching files?
