Lirc - how?

Hello!

My Pinnacle tv card works now, so i'd like to get lirc running. As i'm useing a Pinnacle remote control i installed the package lirc+pctv. So what do i have to do now?.
I already wrote this into /etc/modprobe.conf:

alias char-major-61 lirc_serial
options lirc_serial irq=4 io=0x3f8

(IRQ and IO settings are the same as in BIOS.)
And then i run "lircd". lircd.conf already exsists but irw doesn't work. No error message, but quits emmidatly when i try to start irw.

Any Hints?

Re: Lirc - how?

Hmmm ... maybe i'm wrong. I needed this stuff with SuSE Linux. So what did you do to get it working? Do i only have to add lircd to the deamons in rc.conf?

Re: Lirc - how?

well. i did add >lirc< to the DAEMONS in rc.conf

DAEMONS=(syslogd klogd !pcmcia network cups crond alsa.restore lirc i2c lm_sensors.init)

and i modified the lirc-script a little, because i had problems with mplayer and user-permissions.
however i don't think that is your problem. maybe take a look at /var/log/lircd

Re: Lirc - how?

It works smile!
Hmm ... this is rather simple! Under SuSE i had to do a lot of more things to get it working. I never thought a simple lirc in rc.conf would do wink.
Thank you.
