When I suspend from the gnome Shut Down menu, it only wakes up if I press the power button, and the fan is always in the maximum speed after that.
But if I suspend by closing the lid, the laptop wakes when I open the lid (it certainly wakes up inside my bag this way) and the fan goes on and off as it should be.
Does anyone know why it happens?

In Gnome's power options (System > Preferences > Power Management) you can set a what happens when you close the lid - shutdown, suspend, hibernate etc. What do you have it set to?
Not that I know the answer mind you, but I'm a touch curious myself...

I have it set to suspend. If I set it to "do nothing", it doesn't suspend, so it is not a hardware suspend when I close the lid.
