[SOLVED] gnome-panel acting up

When I set a gnome-panel to auto hide, I can't unhide it unless I mouse over the corners of the screen. In other words, if the panel is on the bottom of the screen, it will only unhide at the lower left and lower right corners, nowhere in between these, and if it is on the left, only the upper left and lower left corners work etc etc....

turns out if you have any vertical desktops in compiz (at least with the desktop wall plugin) it wont recognize the bottom, maybe because compiz expects you to drag and drop windows over the border...
