Openoffice ui appears in ####### (encoding problem)

I installed openoffice-base 2.4.1 and the ui appears in #####

20080718191507218366.png

I use KDE 3.5.9 and have encodings en_US.UTF-8 he_IL.UTF-8 en_US.ISO-8859-1 in the system

Tried to run it with

LC_ALL="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ALL="en_US.ISO-8859-1"
LC_ALL="he_IL.UTF-8"
LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
LANG="en_US.ISO-8859-1"
LANG="he_IL.UTF-8"
OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP="kde"
OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP="gnome"

When in hebrew it seems to attempt to use hebrew (the ui is right to left etc) but still see ####

When i force gnome desktop it looks like GTK app but still in ######

Re: Openoffice ui appears in ####### (encoding problem)

Update : the problem seems to be related to fonts. The font selection box shows one 'misc icons' font only

Re: Openoffice ui appears in ####### (encoding problem)

Update 3 : with gtk-qt-engine installed and putting the new fonts manually to /opt/openoffice/share/fonts/truetype/ it works. It still does not see any of the other fonts in the system

openoffice 3 (openoffice-base-devel) works ok with all fonts and languages
