O.K., that's what I had suspected. I'll just sit tight. I can log on to KDE3.5 if I need any of those extras. No prob.
Or you could just run those KDE 3.5 apps in KDE4. They work fine

Hmmmm. O.K., that's good to know. I'll have my cake and eat it, too.

/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/Qt.rb is a part of kdebindings. Do you need it?

I don't use ruby... I use regular Amarok.... will I have to uninstall Amarok??
Offline
I'm going to delete that file and see what happens ;-)

Sigh...
amarok needs Ruby
kdebindings needs Ruby
kde4-svn-kdebindings needs Ruby
kde4-svn-kdebindings conflicts with kdebindings
If you don't need kdebindings, just remove kdebindings.
Why would you have to remove Ruby or Amarok?

I just deleted the file.... so I will try to boot into KDE4 later tonight.
Install went well.

Amarok plays fine in 3.5.9 without the binding ....

yes, its a dependancy for the script manager,
The clean solution would have been
pacman -Rd kdebindings
to ignore deps

If I install a USB flash drive or iPod tomy machine where do they show up in Dolphin???
By the way Tanis, great work on the repos. Thanks.

Actually ruby IS NEEDED. And it doesn't prevent anything from installing!
Just kdebindings and kde4-kdebindings have conflicting files, so you can have only one of them.
Leave Ruby alone...
@MillTek: I have no idea Check if 'device notifier' (between menu applet and applet for switching desktops by default) - knows something...

OK, I left Ruby alone... only the Qt.rb was removed ...... thanks for all your hard work on KDE4....

I've installed KDE 4 RC1 from your repo successfully - thanks for the great work! It works good, just the desktop effects are still breaking my KDE. But this is not very important for me
But I have another question: Does anybody know how I get rid of the old KDE3 entries in my KDE4 menu? I've got KDE3 on my system and use it with my main user and KDE4 for my test user. But I don't want all the KDE3 apps in KDE4. Is there any option to hide them?

Note
Maschino this extract from the kdesvn-build wiki might help.
"If later your K Menu is empty or too crowded with applications from your distribution, you may have to set the XDG environment variables in your .bash_profile:
XDG_CONFIG_DIRS="/etc/xdg"
XDG_DATA_DIRS="${KDEDIR}/share:/usr/share"
export XDG_CONFIG_DIRS XDG_DATA_DIRS"
---for there is nothing either good or bad, but only thinking makes it so....

It seems like some packages are missing recently. For example, while installing kde4-all, the package kde4-decibel could not be found, same goes for the metapackage kde4-l10n-de. Does anyone know what's up with the server?
Offline
kde4-decibel has been removed. Decibel from [extra] is in version recent enough, and should be used instead. I have accidentally removed language packs from repositories, they should be back soon. Together with some new packages: kde4-amarok-1.83, kde4-koffice-1.9.95.9, kde4-kdevplatform-0.91 and kde4-kdevelop-3.91.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. I was just wondering Anyway it seems as if as long as i haven't completed the installation, kde4 won't appear in the sessions menue at the login although I've added the line to ~\.bashrc (and yes, ~\.bash_profile runs that file). I'll try it later again, when the missing packages are up.
Thanks again,
Argoth

Same problem. Decibel is missing.

It seems that kde4-decibel is not in Extra. Please add it back as well.
