friendly interactive shell (fish) isn't so friendly ;(

Hi,

I really like the interaction of fish and would like to use it as my default shell for root and user. Unfortunately, it has provided me with a lot of grief. Despite initially defining a function as root to user all the /bin /sbin /usr/bin /opt/texlive/bin etc..., it now only shows /bin and /usr/bin when I run echo $PATH. It fails when I try to add all the directories that I had originally back in. I'm not sure what is going on. Until today, I though global path was defined solely in /etc/profile. If there are any fish users in arch, could you please give me a hand?

Thanks!
