it is not necessary to hack  the php code, it is a html option
change from

<input type="radio" name="search_terms" value="any" checked="checked" /> 
Search for any terms or use query as entered<br />
<input type="radio" name="search_terms" value="all" />
 Search for all terms

to

<input type="radio" name="search_terms" value="any"  />
