How do I remove freetype2?

I'm trying to install freetype2-static on an xfce system, but it conflicts with freetype2.  Freetype2 is linked to so many things that I'm not sure how to go about removing it.  Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums.

If the new freetype provides the same libraries, you can remove the old one with pacman -Rd freetype2. I would recommend having a copy of the old library around in case the new one doesn't work.
