Firefox printing problem

Hi,

When printing with Firefox, the top few lines of the webpage go missing. It seems that the whole print is pushed up the paper so that the beginning does not show.

I just couldn't fix it by fiddling with the printer and page setup and info googled on the net did not help either. Any hints/tips much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Re: Firefox printing problem

It sounds like it is formatted for A4 rather than 8.5x11.    Maybe check print.postscript.paper_size or print.print_paper_size in about:config.  I also have a print.printer_PostScript/default.print_paper_size_type.

Hi,

Actually I am using A4 paper and I have set up firefox for that. In the meantime I have checked thundirbird and I have the same problem so it looks like its in the common code of these apps. I guess I will wait for the next upgrade, if this is a bug it should be well known.

Thanks!

Re: Firefox printing problem

For A4 I think print.print_paper_size should be 3, but this is maybe an old mozilla setting that firefox/thunderbird no longer use.  I don't see how printing could be screwed up for A4 and nobody complained, given this is the most common paper size.  Maybe check out http://www.mozillazine.org/

Still no joy. I think there may be something else in my system to blame though other apps  print correctly.

How right I was: The paper size was not set in the cupsd config. I used lpoptions -o media=A4  to set paper size and now I get full content on the paper but the header and footer lines are still missing. Still, much better now and it doesn't affect printing from other apps (mainly gvim).

Apologies for wasted bandwidth!

I tried the above but when I restarted cups server the added line was rejected ?
