Why alpha/pre ffmpeg?

My understanding is that  pre/alpha/beta/rc were to be avoided in the repos unless specifically placed in stable. try to avoid running such software unless it is unavoidable (cdrecord  ..... well that is the only beta I run i think).

I will have to place ffmpeg on my ignore list now and wait for the stable release.

the dev of it says, that the older one "sucks" and is more buggier than the pre1
