Help I Removed Glibc

I was trying to reinstall glibc and I accedentally uninstalled glibc, now nothing works. I just did it and I had firefox open luckily and I am able to type this message. What can I do now to fix it? Nothing works, not even BASH!.

Re: Help I Removed Glibc

I did something very similar before with glibc. This works.

If you happen to have a live CD around, you can force copy the package into the correct directories. If you have a copy in /var/cache/pacman/pkg that would be helpful, but you can get it from a mirror also. Either way, get the package, unpack it, and simply copy the folders over the existing ones. For instance, copy /usr from package over /usr in the file system. Once that's done and you can boot your system again, reinstall using pacman so that your system database is up to date.

Good luck.

Re: Help I Removed Glibc

Ok I fixed this before even checking the thread. I remembered that I had my USB stick with Arch Live on it so I booted, fsck'd the filesystems, mounted and --- here it comes --- pacman -U glibc -r /mnt/drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!1!!1111111111111 Gotta love pacman! Thanks for posting though! Gotta love Linux all round. Just went from crippling my system to a perfect working system again.

Not only is Linux great, but _experience_ with Linux is even better.

Re: Help I Removed Glibc

I'm glad you got it fixed. My situation with glibc was that I accidentally installed a 32 bit version over the 64 bit one! Whoops. I was a lot less capable back then and panicking was weighing heavily on my mind. Your solution is far more elegant than mine. Nice.
