configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails

I'm getting an error:

configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

For several things, mainly svn of gaim, gaim-encryption, but I haven't tried others.  Any clue what this has to do with?

try reinstalling the new gcc. If that doesn't work, build it from abs using makepkg. If it fails to build, reinstall the old version then try again.

Already tried to reinstall gcc, it didn't help.  It isn't from abs so i can't reinstall it from there.  Any other ideas?

pacman -Sy kernel-headers

should solve it.

Invariably, someone else has already encountered most of the common problems and documents them here.  Alternatively there's IRC.

Same issue in this location
Reinstalling kernel-headers-2.6.12 worked fine in this location.
As I had  kernel-headers installed I didn"t think first about this issue beeing solved when reinstalling it

i tried to install sabbu and subtitleeditor with abs/aur, and both stopped at configure.
checking how to run the C++ preprocessor... /lib/cpp
configure: error: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

tried to reinstall kernel-headers-2.6.18-3 and gcc-4.1.1-3 ...no luck.
(tried to remove them from cache then reinstall...still got the error msg)

pacman -Sy kernel-headers works for me as well! That's really odd, I'm going to look into this problem...
