Gentoo Sunrise for ArchLinux

Is there an existing repo for ArchLinux containing nothing but AUR builds which haven't yet made it into official Arch mirrors, a la the Gentoo Sunrise project?   ( http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise )

If not, would anybody be interested in joining me in creating such a repo?   What I had in mind in terms of criteria for allowance into this repo:
1)  Cannot be intentionally bleeding edge (snapshots, svns, etc)
2)  Cannot be something that conflicts with existing packages in official repos (kdemod, etc)
3)  Before a package can be added, the maintainer must submit their pkg and their PKGBUILD.   Their PKGBUILD will be built into a package and then MD5'ed against the submitted pkg to assure no tamporing with the software.

Re: Gentoo Sunrise for ArchLinux

This is pretty much the point of the [community] repo.  In general, we take the popular packages from the AUR whose licenses allow redistribution and make binaries of them.  Of course, a Trusted User is really allowed to put any package they want in there, but we try to stick with the popular ones...

I see it being better for people to apply as a TU and maintain packages in community.  As long as you maintain a few packages in the AUR and they are up to standard (which means follow the packaging guidelines), your application is likely to be accepted.  The initial hurdle is getting a sponsor, but if you are on the forums/irc/mailing lists etc, one of the current TUs is bound to recognize you and sponsor your application.

Ah - I was told that was strictly for popular packages, and there some are some really cool packages I've found in AUR that aren't that popular, but I'd still like to be able to use Shaman to automatically keep them up to date ... and that means they've got to be in a repo.

I'll try that route first then.

The [community] is not strictly for popular packages, but it is preferable.  The idea being that if a TU retires, then there will be another one interested in maintaining their packages and they won't need to be dropped back to unsupported.

This is kind of "off topic": What should I do if I want a package to be updated and the TU doesn't show up?

I take it you mean that the package has been flagged out of date but not updated yet?   Your options are:
1) Get the PKGBUILD from abs, bump the pkgver and pkgrel, and build it yourself. If the change is more in depth than doing that and you can make a working PKGBUILD, it may be useful to politely email the maintainer with the updated PKGBUILD or post it on the AUR page.
2) Wait.  The maintainer knows it is out of date.  They might be just a little busy at the moment.  At least two TUs are on holiday...

That was fast! Thanks.
I'll investigate more about abs.
