Re: Petition for better ATi drivers

hey, it's slowing down!!!

39 new in 75' and 9 new in next 13'

we had a grow-speed of 1,2/min and now 0,7/min

anyway, with an average speed of ~1/min, we can expect to have in a week about 10k if linear :-)

Re: Petition for better ATi drivers

A better option is to support the better company (NVidia) next purchase.  Enough people do that and ATI will take notice. wink

Re: Petition for better ATi drivers

the thing is that ati's are theoretically better cards. it is just that the company spends more time on making a theoretically better card that cannot fully deliver outside the factory because they don't bother making decent drivers.

my friend and i stay away from ati's because they just can't deliver on the drivers.

Re: Petition for better ATi drivers

the main problem that the drivers are not as easy to install than nvidia drivers it's harder to make a PKGBUILD and the RPM format simple sucks ;-)
that's the reason i keep nvidia

well lets see ... oh right i don't know any programming languages.

besides i don't need an ati card because i use a nvidia. since I don't game or do intensive graphical work i don't have the need of anything fancy and so the extra bucks and greaif of using a ati card is enough to keep me away from them.

feh. what an ass.

Re: Petition for better ATi drivers

you have actually 2 excellent arguments:

1) you don't know any prog. langs
2) your boyfriend uses it too (just realizing, how much a girlfriend can influence ones point and applying this to the subject)

(by the way: what means "feh. what an ass."? )

God no, don't bring him into this.  Or her little polar bears either, they're teething you know.

(by the way: what means "feh. what an ass."? )

"feh" is not exactly a word, but it probably represents a sort of pfft sound.  what an ass would mean you were an ass for suggesting she programming it when you know as well as anybody that she doesn't know more than php.

But she's wrong, she should learn to program, it would make her a lot less grumpy. wink But the C or assembler code needed to write ATI drivers would probably be a bad place to start....

thanx for explaination

i didn't know that she don0t know to programm - actually - if you know php (good enough), you know a lot (functions, classes, architecture, concepts, alghorithms, even db access ... a lot)

and no, C or assembler would be definitely a bad idea for a newbie (acutally, at the uni, we started to understand assembler in one of the first lessons of informatics, to learn how a computer works - very boring) - there are also some javaapplets on the web visualizating the basics of a cpu on that level

if 2 bolar bears of different gender meet by chance, for a certain time, they are not at all solitary - may it be only a week or so, it is not solitarity but making sure, your species keeps existing ;-)

Re: Petition for better ATi drivers

I don't want to rain on your parade, but I've had extensive contact with ATI relations. And whenever I mentioned "Linux", they always diverted the question towards "games! games! games!" and didn't really answer any Linux relevant questions in a sensible way.

When I asked for an interview with the Linux blokes at ATI's, I got P.R. people as my contacts. You get the idea.

Re: Petition for better ATi drivers

They've made it common knowledge that PR, tech support, and customer service people don't have any info about Linux development, so I wouldn't expect anything unless you're put in contact with someone important.
