What's the chance of getting a jabber server running? I don't need a archlinux.us email addy, but a jabber name with archlinux would be appreciated! (Like archlinux.co.uk)

GTalk uses the jabber protocol.

So <username>@archlinux.us would work as a jabber account with talk.google.com as jabber server.

(I know this works as I'm doing it already)

Yes, GTalk is based off Jabber, but doesn't have some of the same features Jabber already has and has other 'non-standard' features such as OTR messaging. So, while you can use the archlinux.us email as a jabber nick, it's not the same. Besides, even if Gtalk is fully compatabile with all Jabber servers (which, for the most part, it already is) I'd gain another email. Sure, I don't have to use it, but it's there none the less.

OTR does work with GTalk for me in pidgin and adium.

However, yeah, it does mean that you get yet another e-mail and if you only want a jabber account it may be unnecessary.

Regarding jabber.....

Perhaps, I'll have to look into it. It would mean I would have to
change DNS hosts.  I did find out "how" to make the changes though.

Can someone test this out now...... I just moved DNS servers and changed mx and srv records....... it "should" work now.
