Anyone else getting this problem with ndiswrapper?

$ dmesg | grep -i ndiswrapper
ndiswrapper version 1.52 loaded (smp=yes, preempt=yes)
ndiswrapper (link_pe_images:604): DLL initialize failed for athw.sys
ndiswrapper: driver netathw (,06/27/2008,7.6.0.239) loaded
ndiswrapper (mp_init:207): assuming WDM (non-NDIS) driver
usbcore: registered new interface driver ndiswrapper

Probably because of what happens in the second line, my wifi isn't working with the latest [core] version of ndiswrapper - not with any version of the WinXP drivers for my hardware. It appears that something broke the ndiswrapper package.

Is it just me, or is there anyone else using ndiswrapper and getting this? If anyone can confirm this, I'll file a bug report...

What card do you have?  Looks like an atheros chipset.  Have you tried the atk5k driver yet?

Re: Anyone else getting this problem with ndiswrapper?

AR5007EG, ath5k only works with the [testing] kernel (2.6.26). However, ndiswrappe with the WinXP 32-bit driver should work and has worked in the past.

Edit: FWIW, I've tried the wifi switch on the front of my laptop, too. It appears to do nothing without the proper driver.

Re: Anyone else getting this problem with ndiswrapper?

I have an AR5007EG in my Acer 3680, using ndiswrapper, no problems here.

dmesg | grep -i ndiswrapper
ndiswrapper version 1.52 loaded (smp=yes, preempt=yes)
ndiswrapper: driver net5416 (,06/05/2007,6.0.3.85) loaded
ndiswrapper (NdisMAllocateMapRegisters:972): Windows driver net5416 requesting too many (256) map registers
ndiswrapper: using IRQ 17
usbcore: registered new interface driver ndiswrapper

Also, my light and switch work flawlessly.

I'm using xp32-6.0.3.85.zip from here

Re: Anyone else getting this problem with ndiswrapper?

I had ath5k blacklisted and didn't have madwifi installed.

Argh! Reinstalled, still no go... Is there nobody else getting this with every driver they use?

Edit: Wait a minute, the 6.0.x driver works! And the range is better! Woo hoo!
