I've upgraded KDE to version 4. Can I delete /opt/kde folder?

I don't think so. I tried renaming it, and then I noticed that my Amarok icon was gone (among other things, maybe, but I didn't check).

check with pacman -Qo if there are any files belonging to a package. Note that not every app is available for KDE4 yet.

Many kde 3 apps still need kdelibs3 from testing which installs to /opt/kde. Their configuration files are in ~/.kde while the kde 4.1 application settings are in ~/.kde4.
Most notable apps that are still kde 3 are amarok, k3b and kdevelop.
