Microphone problem

The "MIC" volume in mixer is maximum, no mute.
My new mic (which can work under win) still doesn't work.
Kernel can't find my hardware? Seems no device like "microphone" showed in lshal.
Any hint? THANKS!

Re: Microphone problem

What soundcard/chipset are you using?  What sound driver modules are you loading (or attempting to load)?

Re: Microphone problem

Well, crud.  Unless it's something obvious like the mic volume is muted in alsamixer, I'm fresh out of ideas.  Sorry :-(

Have you tried different apps for recording, or even just running arecord raw from the DOS prompt... uh, console?  If it fails on one client but not another, that would suggest a configuration error within that one package.
