upgrades crashed my laptop

well, i thought i would try kde4 on my laptop tonight, since its mobile and i can get access to a high speed connection a little easier on it. so i went to a friends, started my updates.........

anyway, bottom line, i had issues during the updates, ran out of space, so i cleared the pacman cache, started over, had to force a few, anyway, now its hanging when it tries to load the hal daemon on startup

any advice?

Re: upgrades crashed my laptop

i would try this: boot to live CD, comment out hal from the daemons array, reboot into arch, run pacman again to hopefully fix whatever didn't get properly updated during the upgrade, reinstall hal just to be sure, restore hal in the daemons list, see if you can reboot.
