Is it just me, or does kopete not quit correctly when selected?
I can quit it however I want, but it doesn't completely stop. It disappears but keeps running (it starts itself after the next reboot, that's how I figured that out). Currently I have to manually do a "kill kopete" to completely shut it down.
Does anyone else has this problem?

Ditto. I wonder if the same issue occurring in Konqueror is related.

I just checked konqueror and you're right, it also happens there.
Also the same thing happens with kate...

Isnt it the thing when close does actually minimize and hide from tray like was in Mac ?

That's why I was talking about quitting kopete, kate, etc.
All apps totally disappear from the screen but still run in the background invisible and not functional. But this is stored when shutting down and during the next boot, all of these applications are popping up again...
It's no fatal thing, but very annoying...

Go into the system-preferences -> sessions. There you can enable starting a new session on login...
Or just rightclick on the tray-symbol and quit it

You got me wrong. I close kopete by right-clicking to the tray icon and quitting it.
Also by not storing the information for the session it would effect all changes I might do, so this would also not be a solution. Like I said, other than killing kopete from the console (and konqueror as well as kate, too) there is nothing really working...
All I wanted to know is if that is a Bug in Archlinux' packages or a general bug in KDE4.1! And depending on what kind of bug it is I'm looking for fixes....
I already did everything to close those programs in any possible regular way, but other than killing the process, nothing works to completely close them.

the same here, but then i close kopete and konqueror not with the x
then i pressed ctrl esc en kill the process there, and when i restart there gone

And New session is only half solution. When i leave an app open i want it to open again. When i close an app i expect it to be closed and to not open next time. This cannot be done with the session manager
Is there any way to disable tis behaviour at all ? Maybe in kde performance ? (i am in 3.5.9)

the same for me. For a lot of applications. If you close the application with system monitor you bypass the problem

further more, after a reboot, when I start up Kopete, my accounts are missing, after a few attemps at shutting down kopete and it eventually crashing, the next time I open it up, they're all back..
Girls use Linux too!

Check if the "closing bug" is fixed with kdelibs-4.1.0-4 in [testing]. Relevant upstream bug is http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=167826

Resolved it completely here, and the cut back on the extra spawning seems to have made performance shoot up a few notches too!
