Upgrading pari-gp

Number theory package pari-gp is at version 2.3.2 in AUR, but the latest stable version is 2.3.4.  (See PARI/GP.)  I'm about to install 2.3.4 by editing the PKGBUILD file.

My question is... what is standard procedure if I want to update the version in AUR?  Should I contact the contributor first?  (No maintainer is listed.)  Or would it be OK for me to upload an upgraded version?

If there is no maintainer for a package in the unsupported part of the AUR, then you can adopt it and upload a new version.
