Dear all,
I noticed that some of you are using Pypanel - a very useful tool along with Openbox.
Now, question: With Xfce, I used the generic monitor plugin (genmon) to show a battery status value generated by a script. Does anyone know if it is possible to display such a variable in Pypanel?
The script is this and was displayed like this battery percentage.

Dont think so, try using conky to display system info such as the battery.

i dont think that pypanel can do that.

I suspect that it won't. But am I correct in assuming that Conky will require me to look at my desktop? The point was to be able to see it in my system tray.

Edit: I think that you need a gnome, or xfce -panel these panels have much useful applets, i use openbox + xfce4-panel to.

With OpenBox you can configure margins on the edges of the screen. Maximise windows can't go over the margins. So you can take a conky like mine and place it in your margin.

If you only need an area to display your battery info you can leave a gap to the left or right of your Pypanel setup and have a small conky instance next to it.
