[Solved] No Video/Audio

Hi,

I'm new to Arch linux, but had used linux before

sound works fine in Firefox (tested with youtube) on my Dell Vostro 1500

dragon player played video files but without sound

but now, (not usre wht chnaged)dragaon player doesn't play any video or mp3 files though codecs were installed

flash plugin still plays sound

i'm using kdemod 4, not sure wht exactly should I be configuring

added user to audio und video group?
as root: gpasswd -a user group

configured soundcard via alsa?
as root: alsaconf

yes, did both the steps

sound works fine in firefox (youtube with flash plugin) but nothing plays/works in dragon player or amarok2

If you start either from a terminal, are you getting any error messages?

pacman -S codecs gstreamer0.10-bad gstreamer0.10-ugly gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-mad gstreamer0.10-mpeg2dec

as per arch wiki.

dragon player first played video files but without sound.

something happened after that and video files or mp3 doesnt play, not even the video

should I be configuring phonon? opened an avi file and nothing happens

installing gstreamer0.10-plugins-good solved the problem.

kde phonon depends on gstreamer to work,

so flash plugin doesnt need phonon or gstreamer to work????
