Hey guys,
I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out what is wrong with my system. I have jre installed and i checked the plugin folder for mozilla and the plugin is there, but whenever I go to a site that requires java, it says that the plugin is not installed. I am running 32bit arch, so its not a 64bit issue. Do any of you know what might be wrong? Thanks.

I already have those packages installed. Btw, java isn't even mentioned on that page, haha. Thanks though.

I had this same problem on this newly installed system I did and couldn't figure out was wrong, then realized it was probably with the paths or something so I just logged out and back in and now it works, so that may help for you.

I had the same problem on a newly installed system, too!
Not only Java, but also Flash do not work as a normal user!
After digging in, I found the permission of "/usr/lib/mozilla" is NOT accessible by a normal user,
so I changed the permission, and everything works!
But I wonder why this is going to happen?
Since I can not know which package creates this directory, I can not figure out if there is something wrong with some packages...

There is a post-install message from either firefox or jre. Read it, I recall there was something mentioned about java applets.
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

libxsts is required for Java applet,
but I do have it installed at that time.
besides, I do not think libxsts will effect the permission of the directory (/usr/lib/mozilla) ...
sorry for my plain/poor English.
