edit : I had en_US defined in bashrc. It's ok now.
My hplip works fine if I do not set a locale.
If I do this
en_US.UTF8 UTF-8
en_US ISO-8859-1
in /etc/locale.gen and locale-gen I cannot access hplip as my normal user. With the locale in I get "No devices found.".
I take the locale out and its OK.
Any ideas?
