what output in xmms do you use(d)?
maybe a plugin needs to be rebuilt against readline 5.0, but i cannot figure out what (testing them myself, i cannot find one not working)
The impossible missions are the only ones which succeed.

A number of applications including xmms and jpilot came up with that error after I updated readline yesterday afternoon. I found this:
[rb@karoshi ~] $ locate libreadline.so
/usr/lib/libreadline.so.5.0
/usr/lib/libreadline.so.5
/usr/lib/libreadline.so
... but no libreadline.so.4 at all.
I created a symbolic link from libreadline.so.4 to libreadline.so.5, and everything's back to normal for me. Bug in the packaging, or too large a version change?

Thanks nggalai. I guess sometimes the obvious is not so obvious
should have caught the 4 instead of 5 in the error.

Are you using the nptl repo?

No.

I had the same problem, and did the ln -s thing too. I use current or extra only. I think xawtv or something like that was what failed for me. So, there are a few apps that are still looking for libreadline.4
