hi,
anyone succeeded with nvidia driver installation on 2.6.27-rc1?
I know that some patches are required, but even after patching, I had problems with nvidia driver installation.
Thanks

I got it to work just fine.
But the million dollar question... you on a 32 bit machine or 64 bit?
Here is working patch for x86_64: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nvidi … ixed.patch
edit: I heard this patch works for i686: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nvidi … ixed.patch <-- you are on your own with this patch

thanks,
seems that this is somewhat modified patch that I was (unsuccessfully) using before.
I will try to see if this will work better.

Thank you for fixing the patch. I have my AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 with NVIDIA GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M working perfectly so far. It actually feels really really solid using Compiz-Fusion and Gnome.
Your PKBUILD gave me an error when trying to compile the nvidia.ko... but the patch you wrote had patched all of the hunks successfully... so when I tried the nvidia installer, everything worked!!!!!
All I've got to say is the web browser "links" and your new patch just saved the day for me.
Thank you again,
-c.

It's the long version:
2.6.27-rc1-zenmm0-20080805-01717-g9498e0c

if the error is something to the effect that 'No directory of file exsist"
It's the long version:
2.6.27-rc1-zenmm0-20080805-01717-g9498e0c
that'd be why, you need to recompile the kernel with lines 154 - 157 commented out in the zenmm PKGBUILD. This will remove the date stamp and provide the right directory structure for the nvidia-beta-zenmm package.
Or you could do it the long way and update the nvidia-beta-zenmm PKGBUILD everytime you compile a new kernel on a different day then the last.

When I edited those lines out, I got an error saying that I was missing a bracket somewhere... so I skipped it and figured I would give it a try with the long kernel name, and then do it the correct way on my next kernel build.
Anyway, I really like how solid and stable zenmm feels, plus it seems faster than my archx86_64 was. My linux uvc did stop working (which still had no webcam microphone sound in 2.6.26-2). And my suspend still isn't resuming.
But on another positive note, the nvidia beta fixed my black tty's and Compiz feels much more stable and smooth, and the new alsa works SO MUCH better with my HP Pavilion multimedia LED volume.
