annoying epiphany glitch [SOLVED]

some of my address bar icons in epiphany have started defaulting to a normal icon-size "page" icon instead of regular "favicons." it's almost like a "mime-type" icon I think, i.e., with a page that has a globe over it. here's a snapshot of what i mean:

wonky epiphany favicon

there seems to be no pattern I can figure out yet. for example, a simple text file on my website will have that icon, while mythweb is okay. google as you can see has the big icon, while archlinux.org has the normal archlinux logo one.

I deleted the files in the .gnome2/epiphany/favicon_cache, and when that didn't work, I deleted the entire epiphany directory, which also didn't work. All this started after a bad theme (gtkrc misconfiguation in darklooks) crashed my theme functioning in xfce, and i had to remake my user directory to get themes to work right again. I guess something else got corrupted, but I can't figure out where. FF is okay and is showing normal favicons. anyone have any other ideas?

Long shot - have you tried changing icon themes?
