home/root does not exist [solved]

When i open the login window preferences window or start firestarter i get this error
(firestarter:32241): libgnomevfs-WARNING **: Unable to create ~/.gnome2 directory: No such file or directory
Could not create per-user gnome configuration directory `/home/root/.gnome2/': No such file or directory

I have googled the problem and found this on ubuntu forums http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=699130 . They fixed the problem running "sudo usermod -d /root root" is this also a solution for Arch?

Re: home/root does not exist [solved]

That command changes the home of root to /root (as it should be), so it should work.

The question remains why it was set to /home/root in the first place.

You changed the home folder of the root user (you use that when you login as root or use sudo) to /root, instead of /home/root, which probably isn't even a directory. Tell me what you don't understand if you don't, I'll try to explain better.

I think jelly doesn't know why it was set to /home/root (the thing I wondered about), not what the command does.
