Hi, I'm running a xfce and I was wondering how I can access my japanese files and folders?
I tried installing the japanese fonts, and even went as far as copying all the fonts of a japanese winxp and install them, no luck.
I've googled, wiki'd, and searched the forums a few times, help please?
Oh, and the japanese files and folders I'm trying to access is in a fat32 and a nfts drive, if that helps.

So I enabled the bitmap fonts and turned my locale into japanese. I can type and see japanese now, but I still can't see the japanese named files and folders, and I can't make japanese named folders.
Oh wait, I can make japanese folders, but only on the reiserfs drives. Anyone know how I can solve this problem, other than booting on windows and archiving around 160gb, then decompressing in a reiserfs drive?

you're probably mounting it as a regular fat drive? try with
mount -o remount,iocharset=utf8,codepage=932 [path_to_mount]

Hell yes! Thank you very much!

New problem.
I successfully transferred all my japanese files/folders to a seperate reiserfs formatted drive. Everything was going fine till I transferred a few of my japanese files to my flashdrive. The japanese characters became blocks again, while the ones I just transferred to my flashdrive remained the same till reboot.
Can anyone help, please? I've tried the same method as said earlier, but it doesn't work on reiserfs and when i try to do it on my flashdrive, the characters only chage from blocks to other characters.
Oh, and I tried changing the fonts to MsMincho, but even the preview text was a row of boxes.

EDIT:
Nevermind, problem solved. Seems something suddenly locked my custom font folder.
