Grub not working after HD power failure

Topic says it all.. i already fsck'd the disks and all files are readable...

But after reinstalling grub (and even after doing a complete reinstall of the base system including grub install) i get a "NOT A SYSTEM DISK" error...

I  have no clue how to solve this... as grub isnt even trying to start up...

Re: Grub not working after HD power failure

In case anyone is interested:

For some reason (dont ask me how) my bios suddenly switched hd1<>hd2.. had to change that again and it works...

...still a hd should never just power itself off, while the system is running.. i guess its time to buy a new HD

Re: Grub not working after HD power failure

Hi,
a defect PSU could also be the cause for both of your problems. It would explain the HDD power failure as well the changes in the BIOS (assuming your CMOS battery is empty).
You better check this first wink
