New laptop: Asus m51vr

Hi people, i bought my first laptop and for certain i'll need your help for a lot of things, but for now i'd like to connect to my wifi network.

The reported wifi card on vista is: Intel wifi Link 5100

Throught a little search in google i found this: http://marc.info/?l=linux-kernel&m=121866194616689&w=2

So following the topic it appears that it should be in the actual kernel version, the listed module: iwlagn, but it is not.

So any help, what should i do for it to work? For now i have not yet done anything much that a clean install and a pacman -Syu, not yet installed any wm or de, first i'm looking for having all my hardware detected. I can connect throught ethernet, but that is a little problematic cuz the modem is pretty stupid and i have to reboot it everytime that i connect it to a different device, and i'm not the only one here that needs internet.

So, what should i do? i searched in aur and haven't found anything that seems to be what i want roll

From what the post says you should use the firmware from the link.  I have no idea what you need to extract it, my wireless is broadcom, maybe you could look at.......

Did you read the wireless howto on the wiki?

Re: New laptop: Asus m51vr

it seems i'll have to do it with the ndiswrapper. The driver for this wireless board is included in the latest kernel version (2.6.27-rc3). I don't know if it is possible to download only the driver, so i'll just wait for the new kernel version comes out.

Now i'm trying to put my ati graphics board to function, but it seems that the open-source driver doesn't work well with it yet. (ati mobility radion 3470 HD) sad
