Hi!
I am configuring my vostro laptop, and having issues when I insert a dvd or cd... it is not automagically mounted...
I have added hal to rc.conf daemons
my user is in these groups: lp wheel games dbus hal video audio optical floppy storage scanner camera users
my fstab have:
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/dvd /mnt/dvd udf,iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/mnt/cdrom and /mnt/dvd are created... 755, owner root, group root (in my desktop I am using it this way and it works)
any idea?

my fstab have:
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/dvd /mnt/dvd udf,iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
^^
This is why.
If you want to use automounting remove all references to removable devices from fstab, make sure that hal is running and you should be all set.
EDIT: Also, you should remove your user from dbus and hal groups.
