Regarding the Arch is not a Democray article - you poll people for contributions, whether monetary or technical, and have the hairy balls to write this?  No soup for you people.  On to Gentoo for me.  Have a nice life...

It is never our intention to offend people with our articles. At the time that article was written, there were some users demanding that we updated packages almost the same day they were available upstream. And that is impossible sometimes as packages upstream sometimes tends to mess up and don't want to compile, no matter what we try, needing us to write tedious patches. Dusty decided to write that article to educate people on the way things should work, and I did, in general, agreed with his point. To take into considerations is that it was published in the contributed articles area, meaning is the opinion of someone, and everyone is entitled to his own opinions, just as you just expressed your strong opinion about us, generalizing about all of us because of an article. And one more thing, everyone can write an article for the contributed article in the newsletter expressing their points, even if they contradicts the article in question.

Sorry for any inconveniences,

Eduardo "kensai" Romero

PS: Simo so originally turned it all for the best and took advantage of the situation, congrats man. big_smile

From the article:

Users that don't like the way Arch Linux is developed have two simple choices:

   1. Use a different Linux distribution or operating system.
   2. Develop Arch into what they want it to be.

I see after a LONG and THOUGHT out diatribe, you have choosen option #1.
I actually thought the "Arch Is Not a Democracy" article was very well put.

That is where you are wrong.  I had soup for lunch today - chicken and sweetcorn.  It was most enjoyable.

I still like the idea of a segfault oriented release,  maybe archlinux 2008.08 -- SIGSEGV

archlinux - please read this and this — twice — then ask questions.

I really love the developers. I do not know any other board where the first reply to such a post would be "my balls are hairy" and that from a (ex-)developer! thumbs up guys! big_smile

Maybe we need to start code naming our newsletter releases.
