I have installed Arch on an older computer with an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ processor. I am trying to setup frequency scaling, but I can't get any of the modules listed on the wiki (acpi-cpufreq, p4-clockmod, powernow-k6, powernow-k7, powernow-k8, and speedstep-centrino) to load.
e.g.
sudo modprobe acpi-cpufreq
FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq (/lib/modules/2.6.25-ARCH/kernel/arch/x86/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpufreq.ko): No such device
Are there other modules I could try, am I doing something wrong, or does this processor simply not support frequency scaling?

Unless this is a mobile CPU frequency scaling won't work. Those CPUs simply don't support it, only the mobile K7 does afaik.

I kind of thought that CPU scaling would not be supported for this processer, but I did not see any harm in asking.
Thank you for your help.

If that was all you needed to know, simply googling it would have answered your question a whole lot quicker...
