For some reason Hal has completely stopped working, and when I restart it, or try to start it, it says it has failed. It just won't start. Any help?

HAL: It can only be attributable to human error.
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
There should be a log somewhere with the reason why it did not start.

I experienced the same thing with the latest update to dbus.
Run `ps -e |grep hal` and see if hald is running. If so, `pkill hald`. Then stop the dbus daemon `/etc/rc.d/dbus stop`. Try to start the hal daemon once more `/etc/rc.d/hal start`.

IT WORKED!!!! Is it permanent?
Never mind. It gave me this warning.
Unable to mount "IPOD":
Cannot obtain lock on /media/.hal-mtab
EDIT- I fixed it again.....
