Xfce4 questions

I was very impressed by this screenshot :

http://www.lynucs.org/index.php?screen_ … f&m=screen

My questions :

1) How can I place an icon on the xfce4 desktop ?
2) How can place hardware info applets like cpu usage, ram usage ... on the desktop?
3) How can I place date , uptime, and username on the desktop ?
4) What about the weather info ?

All in one :

How in the world did he do all that ?

Re: Xfce4 questions

nautilus  can also manage your desktop icons.

Re: Xfce4 questions

I believe the icons on this shot are also a gdesklet called starterbar.  If you ask me, gdesklets are a pain.  Superkaramba is nice, but that's KDE only.

Re: Xfce4 questions

I tried gdesklets a couple of months ago (probably 6 or 7 months), and I fully agree with the statement that they are pain. gdesklets are probably better now, but "back then" it took HUGE amounts of memory.
if you got lots of memory you could give it a try.. otherwise I would stick with the standard plugins for xfce (xmms, weather, system-info and so on... ) that way xfce stays "lightweight" and fast....
