Cannot go to full screen mode in vmware server

Hi,

I had X running nicely and I could hit the "full screen" button in the vmware server and go to a full screen arch linux mode

But then I tried vmware tools and later uninstalled them since I couldn't get them running properly.

Now, I can no longer go to "full screen" mode . When I hit the button, it tries to do a few things and later goes back to the default non-full screen mode.

Can someone please tell me how I can troubleshoot this issue? Where does X write its logs to so that I can begin by looking there?

Try /var/log/Xorg.0.log
