I just got myself Nikon d60 camera, but I am unable to get the pictures from it on the computer. The camera is not recognized automatically by the system. I got gphoto2 then and as root I can download pictures from it, but then I cannot open them with any program - be it feh or mirage. And when I try to gphoto2 commands as normal user I get this message:
[piotr@myhost ~]$ gphoto2 --list-files
*** Error ***
Could not detect any camera
*** Error (-105: 'Unknown model') ***
For debugging messages, please use the --debug option.
Debugging messages may help finding a solution to your problem.
If you intend to send any error or debug messages to the gphoto
developer mailing list <gphoto-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>, please run
gphoto2 as follows:
env LANG=C gphoto2 --debug --debug-logfile=my-logfile.txt --list-files
Please make sure there is sufficient quoting around the arguments.
I tried to research but cnt find anything close to my problem. Thanks for any insights to it.

Hi!
First thought: Do you have sufficent permissions as a normal user to read the photos you've downloaded via the root account?
Can you mount the cammera through $> mount ?
As said, just some thoughts. Hope this helps.

filou.linux thanks a lot. The simple instruction $ > mount allowed me to mount the camera as normal user and download the pictures as normal user. You were right that I did not have sufficient permissions after downloading pictures as root. Blessing.
