without a CD

Hi there, I have a 3-4 years old laptop which currently has WinXP and Ubuntu install in the standard dual boot manner. my Ubuntu system is kinda broken and I don't really feel like fixing it. it was my first attempt at Ubuntu and I don't like it. I prefer ArchLinux. but my CD drive is kinda broken... it read some disks but most not.

What would be the best way to install Arch on my old laptop without a working CD drive?

thanks

try installing it via unetbootin - http://lubi.sourceforge.net/unetbootin.html

Re: without a CD

I had installed Arch on my laptop , extracting the contents to a USB drive and having grub boot the kernel.

Re: without a CD

Get ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/iso/2008.06/arc … mg.torrent and dd if=archlinux-2008.06-core-i686.img of=/dev/sdX where X is a usb flashdisk plugged into your computer. But of course your laptop has to be able to boot from usb.
