i have a problem, i bought a 8400gs (until i get a 9600gt) on my new machine (core2 e8400, ram: 2gb ddr2 667, HD 160 gb), the problem is that i cannot overclock it, i try to change the memory and core mhz, but nothing changes, i used to overclock a gf4 mx440 without problems
so, the 8xxx series cannot be overclocked on linux o im doing something wrong? thanks in advance
btw: i try the gui mode and the terminal comands (nvclock -m and nvclock -n)

Do you have this under your Device section in xorg.conf?
Option "Coolbits" "1"

I found more than one forum post (outside of here) that said that CoolBits was no longer necessary for re-clocking. I spent about a week looking for a solution to this problem even though I found it almost right away!
