scim chinese input in openoffice

hi...I'm currently trying to setup chinese input in openoffice using SCIM.  So far, efforts to do so have failed.  I can, however, input Chinese successfully in other programs such as Firefox or Evolution.  I also enabled Asian languages support in Openoffice, but when I try typing ctrl+space, the SCIM input bar does not show up at all.

Any ideas or suggestions?  Thanks.

Re: scim chinese input in openoffice

A few things--take a look at my page on Japanese in *nix at

Look for the langx script thing.
I suspect you should probably start OO with something like (if it were Japanese, you'll change it for Chinese)
XMODIFIERS="@im=kinput2" LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.EUCJP ${1+"$@"} ~/OpenOffice-whatever/soffice

see if that helps.
