Hi folks, I'm looking for a either accounting software or expense management software I can use in Arch! Thx for any recommendations

I can't make any recommendations, but...
pacman -SS finan
(yes, the end of the word is missing) gives 3 packages that might be right. I'm sure AUR has some too. Also, there is this thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=410573

I wrote a bunch of shell scripts to manipulate text files in which I record income, expenses, etc.

Ledger is an excellent program. It is a command line dual entry accounting system that has "the moxy to exist". All your data is kept and maintained in a text file and the program is used to query and report the data.

You may want to look into gnucash as well.

+1 for gnucash
I used to use kmymoney but swore off kde awhile ago and I find gnucash a very suitable replacement. It uses some gnome dependencies but still pretty lightweight. It also does some business accounting but I haven't tried any of that so I can't comment on that part.

I've been planning to do this for a while now too. Make csv files and then use sage to do graphs and calculations. Haven't gotten around to doing it though.

For you guys writing shell scripts to manipulate your text files. This article on sed gives an example of how to convert the QIF format to a neat text file that can be used for reporting data.
